GERMANY: German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier welcomed Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari during an official visit on Friday. Zardari received a guard of honour at Germany’s Defence Ministry.
The trip, made at Steinmeier’s invitation, marks the first visit to Germany by a Pakistani head of state in 23 years. Pakistan and Germany are also marking 75 years of diplomatic relations.
Zardari is scheduled to meet Steinmeier and senior German officials alongside a high-level Pakistani delegation. Talks are expected to cover bilateral ties, regional and global issues, and opportunities to strengthen trade and economic cooperation.
