ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has released its latest weekly inflation report, showing a mixed trend in the prices of essential commodities, with fuel and sugar becoming cheaper while several food items registered increases.
According to the report, prices of 22 essential commodities increased during the past week, eight items recorded a decline, while the prices of 21 goods remained unchanged.
Among the food items, potatoes became 3.94% more expensive, followed by chicken, which rose by 3.70%. Onion prices increased by 3.54%, while flour became 1.61% costlier compared to the previous week.
The report also noted price increases in eggs, beef, fresh milk and several other household essentials.
On the other hand, tomato prices posted the biggest weekly decline, falling by 23.3%. Prices of moong dal dropped by 2.15%, while masoor dal became 0.52% cheaper.
The Bureau of Statistics further reported that the prices of petrol, high-speed diesel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and sugar also declined during the week, providing some relief to consumers despite broader inflationary pressures.
