War would backfire if US resumes conflict, warns Mohsen Rezaei

TEHRAN: Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei has cautioned that any renewed conflict initiated by the United States would have severe consequences for its forces.

Speaking about potential scenarios, Rezaei said future clashes could center on Iran’s southern coastal regions, possibly extending toward Isfahan, along with limited activity in western areas. He also warned of possible airstrikes and targeted attacks in Tehran.

The former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander claimed that previous military strategies against Iran had failed, calling any new plan the “final option” under consideration.

He further warned that a ground invasion could result in large numbers of foreign troops being captured. Rezaei also dismissed the possibility of successfully blocking Iran’s oil exports, asserting that Tehran has alternative methods to bypass restrictions.

In separate remarks, he criticized the US leadership, suggesting it should focus on internal challenges rather than escalating tensions.

Earlier, a ceasefire brokered with the involvement of Pakistan on April 8 had been set to expire on April 21 but was later extended following a request conveyed to Donald Trump.
