WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has expressed strong confidence that Iran will eventually come to the negotiating table, warning that failure to do so would lead to severe consequences.
Speaking during a phone interview, Trump said Iran would either engage in dialogue or face “problems like they’ve never seen before.” He stressed that Washington remains determined to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Trump added that any potential agreement must ensure Iran has “no access” and “no chance” of developing nuclear capability, describing such a scenario as a threat to global security. He maintained that the United States had no alternative but to act, saying the decision was necessary and unavoidable.
The president also claimed that the US had handled the situation effectively and would carry it through to a resolution, expressing optimism that the conflict would eventually end with a positive outcome for all sides.
Earlier, Trump rejected claims that Israel influenced his stance on Iran. In a post on Truth Social, he said his position was shaped by his long-standing belief that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons, as well as the broader regional situation following the October 7 events.
