Three soldiers martyred, three terrorists killed as Karachi Rangers camp attack foiled: ISPR

KARACHI: Three security personnel were martyred while three terrorists were killed after an attempted assault on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi was thwarted by security forces, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to the military’s media wing, the attackers launched the assault on June 27 by detonating an explosive device at the camp’s main entrance before attempting to force their way inside.

Security personnel responded immediately, successfully preventing the militants from breaching the camp’s perimeter. During the ensuing gun battle, three attackers were killed, while a fourth was captured in an injured condition. The ISPR said the arrested suspect is an Afghan national.

The operation claimed the lives of three Rangers personnel, while four others were wounded.

The ISPR identified the attackers as members of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, which it described as an Indian proxy group. It said Pakistan would pursue all those responsible for the attack and ensure they are brought to justice.

Separately, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir paid tribute to the martyred soldiers and extended condolences to their families, stating that their sacrifices reinforce the nation’s determination to safeguard its peace and security.
