NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Security forces have killed three militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, security sources said on Wednesday.
According to the sources, the operation was carried out as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative.
Three militants were killed during the operation, while a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from their possession, sources said.
Security forces also cleared and destroyed militant hideouts in Mir Ali and adjoining areas, according to the sources.
The sources further said that security personnel thwarted an attempt by militants to block a ration truck near Mir Ali Bazaar.
They said security forces remain determined to dismantle militant networks and restore lasting peace in the region under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework.
Seven militants killed in earlier operations
In separate operations earlier, security forces killed seven militants in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to security sources.
Two militants were killed during an operation in Nok Kacha, located in Balochistan’s Chagai district. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants, while their hideouts were also destroyed, sources said.
Meanwhile, five militants affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Bara, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Security sources also said that 11 militants affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan were killed during operations on August 31 in connection with acts of sabotage.
The security forces reiterated their resolve to continue operations against militants until the threat of terrorism is eliminated from Balochistan.
