DUBAI: Sri Lanka have defeated India by 6 wickets in super four round of Asia Cup 2022
Sri Lanka after getting victory against India in Super Four halted India’s chances for final qualification.
Sri Lanka got the victory on the second-last delivery of the final over as their skipper Dasun Shanaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa stole the final two runs courtesy of over-throw.

The side were off to a flying start to their run chase as the openers – Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis thrashed Indian bowlers in the opening overs and laid a solid foundation with an astounding 97-run partnership.
India back into the game after Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowled out the opening pair in 12th over.
Experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who made his return to the Indian side, provided third breakthrough for India as he removed Danushka Gunathilaka for a mere one.
Chahal then struck again for India in the next over and removed the danger man Mendis and strengthened India’s position in the game. Mendis top-scored for Sri Lanka with 57 off 37 deliveries, laced with four boundaries and three sixes, while Nissanka followed back with a quick 52.
Following the slump, Shanaka and Rajapaksa held their nerves calm in a tense run chase and completed a thrilling victory over the defending champions as Sri Lanka got to 174/4 in 19.5 overs.
Shanaka scored a magnificent 33 off just 18 deliveries, while Rajapaksa remained unbeaten with a brilliant 25.
Chahal led the bowling attack for India with three wickets, while Ashwin made one scalp.
India had given a handsome target of 174 runs to Sri Lanka in second round of super four in Asia Cup 2022.
India playing first scored 173 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Rohat Sharma remained highest scorer batter from India as he scored 72 runs off 41 balls while Surya Kumar Yadav made 34 runs.
Hardik Pandya and Raishab Punt scored 17 runs each.
D Madushanka took three wickets while Karunaratne and D Shanaka got two wickets each from Sri Lankan side.
Earlier Sri Lanka had won the toss and elected to bowl first against India.
India have already lost their first match against Pakistan last Sunday.
It was a must-win match for India as they seek to secure their position in the final of the ongoing tournament, but failed today
On the other hand, the island nation won their opening Super Four match and today against India as well.
