MASTUNG: At least six people were killed and three others injured in an explosion in the Khad Kocha area of Balochistan’s Mastung district on Friday, police said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rafiq Hamza said the blast occurred at an orchard in Khad Kocha. Law enforcement personnel rushed to the scene soon after the incident and sealed off the surrounding area.
The bodies of the victims and the injured were shifted to Ghaus Bakhsh Raisani Hospital, police said.
A bomb disposal squad was also summoned to examine the site and determine the nature and cause of the explosion.
The incident comes just days after a roadside explosive device killed two people and injured two others in the Wali Tangi area of Quetta’s Hanna Urak recreational spot.
Pakistan has seen an increase in militant violence, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, in recent years. A report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) identified the two provinces as the country’s principal violence hotspots during the second quarter of 2026.
According to the report, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related fatalities during the period. More than 61%, or 475 deaths, were reported in KP, while Balochistan accounted for 265 deaths, representing around 34% of the total.
Security forces have meanwhile continued intelligence-based operations against terrorists in different parts of Balochistan under Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3.
