KARACHI: The Sindh government is set to present its financial plan for the fiscal year 2026-27 on Wednesday, June 17, according to officials from the provincial finance department.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah is expected to introduce the budget in the Sindh Assembly, sources revealed.
Preliminary estimates suggest that the total size of the upcoming budget will likely be smaller than that of the current fiscal year, which was set at 3,400 billion rupees, the sources added.
Despite the overall reduction, sources assured that funding allocated for development projects in Karachi will remain intact for the next year. Additionally, proposals indicate that budgets for sectors such as health, education, and home affairs should not see cuts.
However, there is a consideration to reduce the overall development budget for Sindh by approximately 15% to 20%, the sources mentioned.
Meanwhile, neighboring Punjab is scheduled to announce its budget on June 16.
Ahead of the presentation, the Sindh provincial cabinet will convene at 11:00 am on June 16 to review and approve the budget proposals, officials said.
