KARACHI: The Sindh government has directed a private school in Karachi to immediately roll back tuition fee increases imposed during the summer vacation, declaring the hike to be in violation of provincial education regulations.
In an official notice issued on July 10, the Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions, operating under the School Education and Literacy Department, instructed the administration of Veritas Learning Circle (Primary) to reverse the revised fee structure following complaints from parents.
The directive came after a hearing held a day earlier, during which education authorities examined allegations that the school had introduced what was described as an “unlawful and excessive” increase in tuition fees.
According to the notice, the school had raised tuition charges across all of its campuses without obtaining prior approval from the relevant registration authority, constituting a breach of Rule 7(6) of the Sindh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2005.
The provincial education department ordered the institution to comply with the regulations by withdrawing the unauthorized fee increase.
