KARACHI: Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has firmly rejected reports suggesting any change in the provincial leadership, dismissing speculation that he could replace Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Speaking to reporters, Memon said there was no discussion within the ruling party about replacing the chief minister and maintained that the Sindh government was performing effectively under Murad Ali Shah’s leadership. He stressed that leadership changes are only considered when governance problems exist, adding that the province’s affairs were being managed smoothly.
His remarks echoed those of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who recently brushed aside media reports about possible successors. The chief minister had described names circulating in political circles including Sharjeel Memon, Nasir Hussain Shah, Saeed Ghani, and Owais Qadir Shah as committed party members, insisting that none of them was seeking his position.
Addressing concerns over delays in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, Memon called for an independent investigation to identify those responsible for the setbacks. He proposed the formation of a commission free from government influence to ensure a transparent and unbiased inquiry.
According to Memon, only a credible and autonomous probe can determine whether responsibility for the project delays rests with the provincial government or the federal authorities. He emphasized that an impartial review is essential to establish the facts and ensure accountability.
