Shahzad Akbar attacking PTI from abroad, claims Shaukat Yousafzai

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Yousafzai has accused former accountability adviser Shahzad Akbar of targeting the party and its founder Imran Khan while staying abroad.

Speaking to media Yousafzai clarified that PTI’s alliance with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) was confined to parliamentary matters and did not represent a broader political understanding.

He said the two parties had joined hands on certain issues, but PTI was not bound to endorse every statement or position taken by JUI-F. He added that political parties should demonstrate caution when commenting on sensitive matters.

The PTI leader also acknowledged that his party had made mistakes in the past. However, he complained that statements made by individuals living abroad were frequently linked to PTI despite having no association with the party.

Referring to Shahzad Akbar, Yousafzai said Pakistan and PTI founder Imran Khan had given him considerable respect, but alleged that he was now criticising and targeting the party from overseas.

He further criticised former PTI members who had left the country and continued making statements against Imran Khan and the party.

“We are patriots, unlike you, who have become fugitives and are sitting abroad,” Yousafzai remarked.
