Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC”) has reserved judgment on the presidential reference, on the advice of then prime minister Imran Khan seeking interpretation of Article 63-A regarding its application of defecting lawmakers.
A five-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial while other members are Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel, Justice Munib Akhtar, and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail.
The country’s chief justice had formed a five-member larger bench — selecting a judge from each province.
The hearings in the case by a five-member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial started in March this year with the PTI government, now ousted, urging to disqualify lawmakers for not toeing the party line.
The court said it will announce its decision in the case at 5:30 pm today as new attorney general Ashtar Ausaf completed his arguments in the case.
