Riaz Ali Chandio, Relative of Umme Rubab Chandio, Killed in Dadu

DADU: Riaz Ali Chandio, a close family member and adviser to Umme Rubab Chandio—who gained prominence for her involvement in the high-profile Mehar triple murder case—was shot and killed in Dadu, police confirmed.

The incident occurred in the Mehar area, where Riaz Ali was reportedly targeted in a gunfire attack. Following the shooting, Umme Rubab Chandio released a video statement accusing armed men led by Murtaza Chandio of orchestrating the attack. She claimed that Murtaza Chandio, recently released from prison, was behind the assault.

In her statement, she identified Murtaza Chandio and Sikandar Chandio as the alleged perpetrators, alleging that they fired indiscriminately at her cousin. She also criticized the Sindh Police for their inaction against the suspects.

In her video message, Umme Rubab warned that any further threats or harm to her or her family would be met with consequences, holding Sardar Chandio responsible.

The police have filed an FIR at Faridabad Police Station based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s brother, Ehsan Chandio. The FIR names 10 suspects, including Murtaza Chandio and two unidentified individuals.

According to the FIR, Riaz Ali had been assisting Umme Rubab in pursuing justice in the case related to the murders of her father, grandfather, and uncle, which received widespread media attention. The complaint alleges that the suspects had threatened Riaz Ali multiple times because of his support for Umme Rubab, culminating in his murder.

It’s noteworthy that Murtaza Chandio was previously named as a suspect in the triple homicide case but was acquitted earlier this year by a court.

Authorities have initiated search operations targeting the suspects, and investigations into the murder are ongoing.
