Punjab govt abolishs birth, death registration fee

LAHOR: The Punjab government has implemented the Birth and Death Registration Rules 2025, abolishing the registration fees across the province.

According to the spokesperson of the Punjab government, the birth and death registration fees have been removed in the province. Now, birth and death registrations can be done free of charge, and on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, computerized birth and death certificates will be issued free of cost.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, stated that identification is a fundamental right of every citizen. She expressed her desire to facilitate citizens, emphasizing that for accessing services, digital birth and death certificates are essential. Citizens can now register free of charge at Union Councils and Municipal Committees for up to 7 years.

The requirement of court orders for late registration of birth and death has also been abolished. Citizens can ensure the protection of their rights by registering promptly.
