LAHORE: Public transport fares have been reduced following a decrease in diesel prices.
According to detail, Intercity and interprovincial fares have been cut by up to five percent a day after the federal government announced a decrease of Rs32.12 in diesel price.
As per new fare schedule, journeys from Lahore to major cities have become more affordable. Lahore to Karachi fares have dropped from Rs5,390 to Rs5,120, and Lahore to Hyderabad from Rs5,020 to Rs 4,770,.
Similarly, fares for Lahore to Sukkur are now Rs3,450 instead of Rs3,630, while Lahore to Bahawalpur and Lahore to Multan fares have fallen from Rs1,970 to Rs1,870.
Other reductions include Lahore to Dera Ismail Khan from Rs3,285 to Rs3,120, Lahore to Bannu from Rs2,510 to Rs2,380, and Lahore to Kot Addu from Rs2,340 to Rs2,220.
Transport authorities have instructed operators to implement the new fares immediately and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone charging higher than the revised rates.
