ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has conveyed warm felicitations to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian government and its people on the country’s Independence Day.
In his message, President Zardari paid tribute to the resilience, determination and sacrifices of the Indonesian people and the leadership of the country’s founding fathers in their struggle for independence.
He said Pakistan and Indonesia shared longstanding and cordial relations rooted in mutual trust, shared values and close cooperation at bilateral, regional and international forums.
The President noted that bilateral ties had expanded over the years across several sectors, including trade, investment, defence, health, education and people-to-people contacts.
He expressed confidence that the positive momentum generated by President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Pakistan last year would help further strengthen cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
President Zardari also extended his best wishes for Indonesia’s continued peace, progress and prosperity.
