Police deployed amid protest concerns at Islamabad’s Quaid-e-Azam University

ISLAMABAD: Tensions flared at Quaid-i-Azam University on Thursday, prompting authorities to call in police amid fears of student demonstrations.

The situation developed after students from the Gender Studies Department attempted to stage a protest in support of peers who had not paid their examination fees. Upon receiving reports of the gathering, the university’s vice chancellor, along with the security team, arrived at the scene and dispersed the students.

Amid concerns that the situation could escalate, a heavy police presence was deployed on campus as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Student Federation have announced plans to hold protest meeting, alleging that students were subjected to harsh treatment during the incident.
