PML-N poised for decisive victory in AJK polls, says Amir Muqam

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam has voiced optimism about the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s prospects in the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) general elections, predicting the party will secure a two-thirds majority.

He made the remarks on Thursday while addressing a ceremony in Islamabad that welcomed several new members from AJK’s Sehnsa constituency into the PML-N.

Speaking on the occasion, Muqam said the growing number of people joining the party from Sehnsa reflects public confidence in the PML-N’s leadership, development agenda and governance record.

The minister pointed to several initiatives introduced by the PML-N government for the region, including subsidised wheat, reduced electricity tariffs and the establishment of Daanish schools to improve educational opportunities.

He also noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved Rs10 billion for the construction of the Haryam Bridge, describing it as a major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and supporting regional development.
