ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the government will unveil a significant reduction in petrol prices tonight, providing relief to consumers as international oil prices continue to decline.
Speaking in the National Assembly, the premier reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transferring the benefit of lower global fuel prices directly to the public, saying a substantial decrease in petroleum prices would be announced later today.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan’s international reputation has strengthened, with the country earning greater respect across the world. He recalled that the US-Israel conflict with Iran had triggered a sharp surge in global oil prices nearly three months ago, but noted that the subsequent ceasefire has led to a steady decline in crude oil rates, with further reductions expected.
The prime minister expressed optimism that easing regional tensions would support economic stability and growth while bringing relief to consumers through regular weekly fuel price adjustments.
Calling for national unity, he said the government and political leadership remain committed to safeguarding national interests. He also acknowledged the efforts of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and the opposition leadership, while crediting Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for playing a key role in the country’s recent achievements.
