ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has paid tribute to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for its decades-long record of courage, professionalism and sacrifice, saying the force has consistently risen to the challenge of defending the country’s airspace.
In his message marking Air Force Day on September 7, the prime minister said the PAF had demonstrated exceptional professional capability and dominance in aerial warfare throughout its history.
He praised the force for its tradition of valour, sacrifice and professionalism, saying its personnel had always responded to the nation’s call with courage and determination.
Tribute to 1965 war heroes
Recalling the 1965 war, Shehbaz said PAF pilots and personnel had displayed extraordinary resolve in protecting Pakistan’s aerial frontiers.
He said many aviators made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the country, describing it as a matter of national honour to remember and pay tribute to the martyrs.
“Pakistan Air Force aviators” had demonstrated unmatched determination in safeguarding the country’s skies, he said, adding that their sacrifices remained a source of pride for the nation.
PAF role in Marka-e-Haq
The prime minister also highlighted the PAF’s performance during Marka-e-Haq in May 2025, when Pakistan and India were engaged in a military confrontation.
Shehbaz said the air force operated in close coordination with the other armed services and played a key role in Pakistan’s response through integrated and modern warfare capabilities.
He credited the PAF’s performance to decisive leadership, effective planning, combat expertise and tactical brilliance, along with the coordinated use of multi-domain warfare capabilities developed through modernisation and indigenisation.
According to the prime minister, the PAF once again demonstrated its ability to confront a numerically stronger adversary while upholding its longstanding operational tradition.
“The nation is proud that Pakistan Air Force once again upheld the glorious legacy of fighting the outnumbered, which has always been its hallmark,” he said.
Wishes for continued progress
Shehbaz extended his best wishes to the PAF for continued professional growth and development, expressing confidence that the force would remain ready to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and aerial frontiers.
He said the air force would continue to meet any future challenge with the same commitment and resolve demonstrated by generations of its personnel.
The prime minister concluded his message with the slogans: “Pakistan Air Force Zindabad! Pakistan Paindabad.”
