ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the evolving situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and consider possible constitutional and legal measures, according to sources.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah attended the meeting.
Sources said the participants held consultations on the prevailing situation in the province, with constitutional and legal aspects remaining a key focus of the discussion.
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar briefed the meeting on relevant legal matters, while various constitutional options and possible measures to address the situation in KP were examined.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari has arrived in Islamabad from Karachi.
According to sources, the president is scheduled to chair a separate meeting at the Presidency to discuss developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Zardari is also expected as consultations on the matter continue, sources added.
