ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has introduced a stringent fitness policy ahead of the upcoming Hockey World Cup, emphasizing that only players meeting the required physical standards will be considered for national selection.
As part of its preparations for the tournament, the federation has entrusted the responsibility of finalising the World Cup squad entirely to the foreign coaching staff. The coaches will independently assess the performance and fitness of all players before naming the final team.
Every player participating in the national training camp will undergo comprehensive fitness assessments, with individual evaluation reports prepared to monitor their physical condition. Officials said players who fail to meet the prescribed fitness benchmarks will not be included in the World Cup squad.
The national team’s training camp is currently in progress in Islamabad, where the foreign coaches are conducting two training sessions each day to evaluate players’ fitness levels and overall readiness for the international competition.
