KARACHI: Pakistan received $41.6 billion in workers’ remittances during the fiscal year 2025-26, marking an 8.6% increase from the $38.3 billion recorded in the previous fiscal year, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
In June 2026, overseas Pakistanis sent $3.5 billion, reflecting a 2% year-on-year increase. However, remittance inflows declined 18.3% compared with May 2026.
Saudi Arabia remained the leading source of remittances during June, with inflows of $829.6 million, followed by the United Arab Emirates at $792.2 million and the United Kingdom at $514.9 million.
Separately, the SBP reported a significant rise in earnings by Pakistan’s IT freelancers. Foreign exchange generated by freelancers reached $959 million during the current fiscal year, up 49% from $642 million in the corresponding period a year earlier.
The central bank also noted that Pakistan’s overall IT exports crossed the $3 billion milestone during the first ten months of FY2025-26, underscoring continued growth in the country’s technology sector.
