Pakistan women beat Sri Lanka by five wickets to take 1-0 ODI series lead

WEB DESK: Pakistan’s women’s cricket team made a winning start to the three-match ODI series by defeating Sri Lanka by five wickets in the opening match at Hambantota on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 211, the visitors produced a composed batting performance to reach the total with seven overs remaining, securing a comfortable victory and a 1-0 lead in the series.

The successful run chase was anchored by opener Gull Feroza, who top-scored with 78 runs, while Sidra Amin contributed a valuable 57, with both batters registering half-centuries.

The second ODI is scheduled for Saturday at the same venue, followed by the series finale on July 28.

After the ODI series concludes, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will face off in a three-match T20 International series, which is set to begin on July 31.
