ISTANBUL: The first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee formed under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement will take place in Istanbul, Türkiye, on Monday.
Pakistan will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Foreign and defence ministers, along with the respective Chiefs of General Staff from Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, are also expected to participate in the inaugural session.
The meeting is aimed at advancing coordination under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and strengthening strategic and defence cooperation among the three countries.
Pakistan’s participation reflects its longstanding ties with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia and its stated commitment to promoting regional security, stability and lasting peace.
The Istanbul meeting is expected to provide an important platform for the three countries to discuss shared security concerns and further deepen their strategic partnership.
