Pakistan to host US-Iran peace accord signing in Geneva on June 19

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday announced that Pakistan will host the official signing ceremony of the peace agreement between the United States and Iran in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 19, describing the development as a landmark achievement for international diplomacy.

Addressing the National Assembly, the prime minister hailed the agreement as a victory for dialogue over conflict, saying the world had witnessed a significant step toward lasting peace.

β€œThis is a defining moment in history, one that will be remembered for demonstrating the power of diplomacy and cooperation over war and destruction,” he said.

The announcement came hours after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and US President Donald Trump confirmed that negotiations between Washington and Tehran had successfully concluded with a peace accord.

Reflecting on the months-long tensions, the premier said the agreement marked the end of a difficult period spanning more than three months, adding that hope had emerged after a prolonged phase of uncertainty.

He described the development as a blessing and expressed optimism that the accord would contribute to regional stability and global security.

The prime minister also confirmed that the formal signing ceremony will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 19, where representatives of the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran are expected to officially endorse the peace agreement in the presence of international dignitaries.
