Pakistan security forces eliminate 24 militants in Bannu intelligence operations: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces carried out a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Bannu and nearby areas over the past 24 hours, killing 24 militants, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing stated that the slain militants were affiliated with the banned group it refers to as Fitna al Khawarij and were allegedly involved in various terrorist activities. Security personnel also recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition during the operations.

ISPR reaffirmed that security forces remain determined to pursue terrorists and their facilitators, emphasizing that operations against militant networks will continue. The statement also said efforts to counter terrorism, including threats it alleges receive support from outside Pakistan, will persist until the threat is fully eliminated.

Meanwhile, security forces reported additional progress in Operation Shaban in Balochistan, where three more militants were killed during ongoing operations.

According to security sources, the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan, and police are jointly conducting the operation, using both aerial surveillance and ground assaults to target militant hideouts.

Officials said the campaign has dealt heavy losses to militant groups operating in the region. Recent operations resulted in the deaths of additional militants, bringing the number of those killed in Operation Shaban to 88.

Security sources further stated that since July 5, a combined total of 126 militants have been killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-led operations across the province.

Authorities reiterated that Operation Shaban will continue until militant networks in Balochistan are dismantled.
