Pakistan receives $1.32bn IMF tranche under EFF, RSF programmes

KARACHI: Pakistan has received approximately $1.32 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) following the completion of the third review of the country’s economic reform programme under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The latest inflow includes nearly $1.1 billion released under the EFF and an additional around $220 million provided through the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).

In a statement shared on X, the SBP confirmed that the IMF Executive Board approved the disbursement during its meeting on May 8, 2026. The central bank said Pakistan received a total of SDR 914 million equivalent to about $1.3 billion  on May 12.

The SBP noted that the funds will be added to the country’s foreign exchange reserves for the week ending May 15, 2026.

Pakistan’s 37-month EFF programme, approved by the IMF in September 2024, is designed to strengthen economic stability, improve resilience, and support long-term sustainable growth.

The RSF component of the package is intended to help countries address climate-related vulnerabilities and build economic resilience against environmental challenges.
