Pakistan, oman move to deepen academic, research partnerships

WEB DESK: Pakistan and Oman have agreed to enhance cooperation in higher education and research, following high-level discussions held in Islamabad aimed at strengthening academic ties between the two nations.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Dr Zia-ul-Haq, Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission, and Sami Abdullah Al Khanjari, Consul General of Oman.

During the meeting, both sides explored ways to expand collaboration between universities, focusing on joint research initiatives, academic exchanges, and institutional partnerships. Officials emphasized the importance of building stronger connections between educational institutions in the two countries.

An official statement noted that both parties agreed to promote structured linkages between universities and identify new areas of cooperation in higher education. The discussions also highlighted opportunities to facilitate student and faculty exchanges, along with collaborative research projects.

Senior HEC officials, including Dr Aurangzeb Khan and Dr Muhammad Ali Nasir, were also present and contributed to detailed consultations on future collaboration frameworks.

The Higher Education Commission reiterated its commitment to supporting joint academic programmes and fostering closer institutional engagement, reflecting a shared vision to advance knowledge exchange and research development between Pakistan and Oman.
