ISLAMABAD: Commander Muhammad Shahnawaz Khan, Commander Asim Sohail Malik, and Commander Sohail Ahmed Azmi of the Pakistan Navy have been elevated to the rank of Vice Admiral.
Commander Muhammad Shahnawaz Khan commenced his career in the Navy’s Supply Branch in 1993. He is an alumnus of the Pakistan Naval War College in Lahore and the National Defence University in Islamabad.
Throughout his notable career, he has served in numerous command and staff roles, including Commanding Officer of the General Stores Depot, Commanding Officer of PNS Raza, Director of Procurement (Navy), Directing Staff at the Navy War College Lahore, Director of Pay, Pensions, and Accounts at Naval Headquarters, and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Education).
Presently, Vice Admiral Muhammad Shahnawaz Khan is serving as the Director General of Munitions Production at the Ministry of Defence Production in Islamabad.Vice Admiral Asim Sohail Malik joined the Pakistan Navy in 1995 within the Operations Branch. He is a graduate of the Pakistan Naval War College and the National Defence University in Islamabad.
He has also completed Defence Services Staff College in Bangladesh, a Defence and Strategic Studies course in China, and holds a Master’s degree in Operational Research/Analysis.Throughout his distinguished service, he has gained extensive command and staff experience, including commanding PNS Zarar and PNS Shamsheer, serving as Chief Staff Officer of the 9th Auxiliary Squadron, and as Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Fleet.
He has held key positions at Naval Headquarters Islamabad, including Director of Operational Research, Director of Naval Operations, and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operational Plans). Additionally, he has commanded Combined Task Force 150.
Currently, Vice Admiral Asim Sohail Malik is serving at Naval Headquarters Islamabad as DGC4I.
Vice Admiral Sohail Azmi joined the Pakistan Navy’s Operations Branch in 1996. He is an alumnus of the Royal Naval College Dartmouth in the UK, the Pakistan Naval War College in Lahore, and the National Defence University in Islamabad.His career includes various command and staff appointments, such as Directing Staff at the Pakistan Naval War College, Commanding Officer of PNS Nasr, Commander of the 9th Auxiliary Squadron, Commandant of the Pakistan Naval Academy, and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operational Plans) at Naval Headquarters.
He has also served as Commander of Combined Task Force 151 at the Combined Maritime Forces Headquarters in Bahrain and as Deputy Commandant of the Pakistan Naval War College.Currently, Vice Admiral Sohail Azmi serves in Lahore as Commander Central Punjab and Commandant of the Pakistan Naval War College.All three officers have been honored with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) in recognition of their exemplary service.
