ISLAMABAD: Electricity consumers across Pakistan will soon receive bills in a redesigned format aimed at improving readability and making billing information easier to understand.
The updated layout has been introduced by power distribution companies (DISCOs) on the instructions of the Ministry of Energy, with the objective of providing a more user-friendly and transparent billing experience.
Under the new design, essential details such as total payable amount, due date and electricity consumption are displayed more clearly, allowing consumers to quickly access the most important information without navigating through complex technical data.
Officials said the revised format was developed after widespread complaints about the previous bills, which many consumers found confusing because of excessive information and complicated terminology.
As part of the digital upgrade, each bill now includes a QR code that enables users to conveniently access payment options and other related services.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy’s Power Division has urged consumers to remain cautious while using QR codes. Last month, officials warned that cybercriminals were attempting to exploit the new system by circulating fake government subsidy schemes designed to steal personal information.
The Power Division advised consumers to verify QR codes and rely only on official sources when making payments or sharing sensitive data.
