Pakistan Implemented All Conditions of IMF Including Power Hike: Tarin

ISLAMABAD: Finance adviser Shaukat Tareen said he was optimistic about a deal with the IMF as Pakistan has implemented all the conditions of the fund including electricity price hike.

In an informal conversation with the media after the social sector donations ceremony by the corporate sector in Islamabad, the finance adviser said that Pakistan has fulfilled all the conditions of the IMF.

A deal with the IMF will be done soon. Among the IMF’s precautionary measures are the abolition of tax breaks and the demand for an increase in electricity prices.

He said that tax exemption should be abolished and SBP’s autonomy bill should be prepared. The Ministry of Law is finalizing the draft legal bills. Currency rates and monetary policy are the prerogative of the SBP
