Pakistan emerging as key diplomatic bridge in regional affair

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is increasingly being recognized on the international stage for its growing diplomatic influence, particularly during periods of heightened tension between the United States and Iran, Turkish media outlet TRT reported.

According to the report, Pakistan distinguished itself from other regional actors by pursuing a calm, strategic, and low-profile diplomatic approach focused on de-escalation and continued dialogue between both sides.

The report highlighted the role of Asim Munir, noting that his diplomatic engagement and mediation efforts have contributed significantly to enhancing Pakistan’s regional relevance. TRT described his approach as pragmatic and outcome-driven, relying heavily on quiet negotiations and backchannel communication instead of media attention.

TRT stated that Pakistan managed to preserve diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran during sensitive periods, strengthening Islamabad’s position as an important stakeholder in Middle Eastern diplomacy.

The report further observed that Pakistan’s strategic geography, security credentials, and longstanding ties with both Iran and the United States have provided the country with a distinctive diplomatic advantage.

Pakistan also continues to maintain balanced relations with China, Gulf nations, Türkiye, and other major regional players.

According to TRT, Islamabad’s ability to maintain equilibrium between competing global and regional interests has elevated its image as a dependable diplomatic actor.

The report added that following recent Pakistan-India tensions, the military and diplomatic standing of Field Marshal Asim Munir has gained further international attention.

TRT also noted that defense cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia has strengthened Pakistan’s strategic profile, while the country’s military leadership is increasingly viewed as a key supporter of regional connectivity, economic integration, and stability.

The report emphasized Pakistan’s tough stance against terrorism along its western frontier, stating that counterterrorism efforts are now seen as essential for sustaining regional credibility and economic cooperation.

Concluding its analysis, TRT remarked that successful diplomacy is measured by outcomes rather than public visibility. It added that because Pakistan is not perceived as being firmly aligned with any ideological bloc, it has become a more acceptable mediator for various international stakeholders.

However, the report stressed that Pakistan must address its domestic economic challenges to maintain and expand its diplomatic and strategic influence in the future.
