ISLAMABAD: Authorities have arrested at least 374 Chinese nationals in separate operations carried out by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), sources said.
The FIA detained 258 Chinese nationals after they allegedly failed to provide valid documents proving their legal status or authorised stay in Pakistan.
In a separate operation, the NCCIA arrested another 116 Chinese nationals during raids targeting allegedly illegal call centres in Islamabad, according to sources.
The arrested individuals are expected to be held at Sparco Plaza in Islamabad, which has been officially designated as a sub-jail by the Chief Commissioner.
The latest action comes as authorities intensify checks on the activities and immigration status of foreign nationals across the country. Pakistan is also conducting a nationwide drive against undocumented Afghan nationals as part of its Illegal Foreigners’ Repatriation Plan.
The development follows an earlier FIA investigation into an alleged organ-smuggling network involving Chinese nationals. Nearly 580 kilograms of human placentas were reportedly seized at an airport.
During a hearing in Islamabad, the investigating officer told the district and sessions court that the suspects were allegedly transporting around 30 cartons of human placentas to Vietnam for use in anti-ageing injections.
The court subsequently extended the physical remand of five suspects, including three Chinese nationals, by one day to allow investigators to continue probing the case.
