Pakistan and India DGMOs to discuss next steps as ceasefire maintains calm

WEB DESK: The DGMOs of Pakistan and India are set to hold talks today to determine the next steps following the recent ceasefire that has helped restore calm along their disputed border.

The discussions come after both nations agreed to halt all military actions across land, sea, and air from 5 pm on May 10, signaling a de-escalation of recent tensions.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries had communicated and mutually agreed to cease hostilities.

The upcoming meeting aims to address ongoing border issues and any violations of bilateral understandings that may have occurred.

On Sunday, India’s DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai reflected on his recent conversation with his Pakistani counterpart, during which the latter proposed an end to hostilities.

The talks are viewed as a crucial step toward stabilizing the frontline amid heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
