NZ Beat AUS n T20 WC Opener

SYDNEY: New Zealand power Super12s off to a memorable start, beating Australia by 89 runs in Sydney on Saturday in the Twenty 20 World Cup.

Powered by Fin Allen and Devon Conway’s pyrotechnics, New Zealand overpowered the home side in all departments to fold the Kangaroos out for just 111 and win the match by 89 runs.

None of the Aussie batters could get going and NZ continued to chip in at regular intervals to power Super 12 off to a solid start.

Glenn Maxwell (28) and Pat Cummins (21) were the only players who went past 20 in the Australian innings, as the rest of the line-up fell like a pack of cards. Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner picked up three wickets each while Trent Boult also bowled well to claim a couple of wickets. The likes of Lockie Ferguson and Ish Sodhi also picked up a wicket each.
