North Korea fires multiple ballistic missiles, South Korea responds with condemnation

N.KOREA: Today, North Korea launched several ballistic missiles, prompting strong reaction from South Korea. The South Korean military reported that the missiles were fired from the eastern coastal city of Sinpo around 6:10 AM local time. The projectiles traveled approximately 140 kilometers before landing in the sea.

This incident marks North Korea’s fourth missile launch this month and the seventh in the current year. The Japanese authorities confirmed via social media that the missiles landed close to the eastern coast of the Korean Peninsula.

In response to the tests, South Korea’s presidential office, known as the Blue House, called for an emergency security meeting. They condemned the missile launches as provocative acts and emphasized that such actions violate United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Details regarding the specific type of missiles remain unclear, but Sinpo is recognized as a strategic site housing submarine-launched ballistic missile systems and testing facilities for submarine-based weapons.
