Nine terrorists killed in security operations across Balochistan

QUETTA: At least nine terrorists were killed in intelligence-based operations carried out by security forces in Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said seven terrorists were eliminated during an operation in Kachhi district, while two others were killed in an intense exchange of fire in Wadh district.

Weapons and explosives were recovered from the slain militants, the ISPR said, adding that a search operation was underway to locate any remaining terrorists in the area.

The ISPR reaffirmed that counterterrorism operations would continue until the threat was eliminated.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for their successful operations against what he described as Indian-sponsored terrorists in the province.

He commended the personnel for their professional performance, saying the nation appreciated the sacrifices made by security forces in the fight against terrorism.

Naqvi said the entire nation stood firmly behind the security forces and vowed that terrorists and their facilitators would have no place to hide.

In a separate operation on Tuesday, five suspected militants were killed by police and the paramilitary Frontier Corps in the Karakh area of Khuzdar district, according to a Balochistan government spokesman.

Shahid Rind said the operation was conducted on the basis of intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the area. He described the outcome as evidence of the security forces’ professional capabilities and stressed the need for continued coordinated action to eliminate terrorism.

The latest operations come amid a rise in militant attacks in Balochistan, where incidents of violence have also included the abduction of civilians and government officials.
