NEPRA Approves Uptick In Electricity Prices Under Fuel Adjustment Charges

Islamabad: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an uptick of Rs 4.34 per unit under the fuel adjustment charges.

The NEPRA after hearing Central Power Purchasing Energy (CCPA) appeal, approved an initial increase of Rs 4.34 per unit in the electricity prices.

The approval has been given under fuel adjustment charges for the month of July.

The consumers of electricity will face an additional burden of Rs 35 billion after the hike in the electricity prices.

As per the CCPA, a loss of Rs six billion incurred owing to scarcity of Re-Gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) while more than Rs 460 million wasted on faults in the system.

The CCPA had requested a raise of Rs 4.69 per unit under the fuel adjustment charges.

The notification regarding an uptick in the electricity prices will be issued later.
