ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday directed authorities to prepare a new, comprehensive security plan for Islamabad’s Diplomatic Enclave as he reviewed ongoing development and infrastructure projects in the high-security area.
During his visit, Naqvi inspected work on the enclave’s boundary wall, security checkpoints, cycling and walking tracks, and other development schemes. He instructed officials to accelerate construction while ensuring that environmental safeguards are strictly observed.
The interior minister specifically directed that work on the boundary wall should continue without interruption and stressed that no trees should be cut during the execution of development projects.
Naqvi also called for the cycling and walking tracks to be developed in line with modern planning standards, aimed at providing improved recreational facilities for residents. He further ordered the widening of roads to enhance traffic flow and accessibility within the enclave.
Seeking to strengthen security arrangements, the minister asked the Deputy Inspector General of Security to formulate a revised plan that addresses current security requirements while accommodating the needs of diplomatic missions and residents.
Naqvi also announced plans to restore and upgrade parks inside the Diplomatic Enclave, saying the government was working to develop the area into a secure, well-managed diplomatic zone with modern infrastructure and improved public spaces.
He directed the relevant authorities to ensure that facilities available to residents meet international standards.
During the visit, the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority briefed the minister on the progress of ongoing schemes, construction timelines and future development plans for the enclave.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and other senior officials were also present and reviewed the implementation of the projects with the interior minister.
