Islamabad: The hearing against deputy speaker National Assembly (NA) Qasim Suri over his ruling rejecting a no-confidence motion of the opposition is continued in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
A five-member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandiyal is hearing the reference.
On arguments of the ruling PTI counsel Baber Awan, Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial said we will issue appropriate order today and will review only the National Assembly proceedings of yesterday.
Baber Awan apprised that Prime Minister Imran Khan has given message that they are ready for fresh elections, to which, the CJ said “you are talking political thing adding that we will see what is the legal status of Duputy Speaker ruling.”
While on a query of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawyer Latif Khosa regarding a formation of full court bench, the CJ apprised that a formation of full court bench disturbs all other cases adding that if you have objection over the bench then we will leave from the room.
The SC rejected the PPP insistence for formation of full court bench.
Farooq H Nayik said that the PPP, PML-N, JUI-F had filed the petition yesterday against the NA deputy speaker Qasim Suri ruling to reject no-confidence motion against the premier.
Over a large numebr of people presence in the court, Chief Justice said that there is a facility outside the court for listening of the hearing adding that decreae the crowd from the court room, don’t damage sanctity of the court.
