Motorcycle Snatching In Karachi Increased By 86 Percent During 2021: CPLC Report

Karachi: The metropolitan city of Karachi saw substantial increase in street crimes as it increased by 15 percent in 2021 as compared to previous year.

The Karachi remained on the mercy of criminal elements in the year 2021 as the crime rates are increasing every year.

The crime incidents surpassed 75.000 while as many as 850 people were also injured due to resistance during the crime whereas figures were 622 in the previous year.

According to Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) the citizens deprived of 48, 000 motor cycles and more than 25,000 mobile phones. As many as more than 2000 cars also snatched during January To December 2021.

As per the CPLC, the rates of motorcycle snatching increased by 86 percent as compare to previous year while stealing of bikes increased by 34 percent. Car snatching surged to 19 percent and stealing of it by 21 percent.

This year round mobile phone snatching also increased 18 percent as compare to previous year.

In the year 2020, as many as 2228 motorcycles were snatched and 31, 999 stolen while citizen deprived of 19, 780 mobile phones and 1580 vehicles.
