QUETTA: Security forces have killed three terrorists, including a militant commander, during an operation in Mastung district of Balochistan, security sources said on Monday.
According to the sources, the forces used a quadcopter to track and target a vehicle carrying the militants during the operation. The strike destroyed the vehicle and killed all three terrorists onboard.
The slain militants included a commander identified as Naqeeb, the sources said, adding that security operations would continue until the elimination of the remaining terrorist threat.
The latest action comes days after security forces killed 11 militants in separate intelligence-based operations in Kharan and Washuk districts.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operations, conducted on September 6 and 7, were launched after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants affiliated with what it described as the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Hindustan.
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have remained major hotspots of militant violence in Pakistan in recent years. The security situation has deteriorated since 2021, following the return of the Afghan Taliban to power.
A report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) identified KP and Balochistan as the country’s most affected regions during the second quarter of 2026.
The two provinces collectively accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related fatalities recorded nationwide during the period. KP reported 475 deaths, representing more than 61% of the total, while Balochistan recorded 265 fatalities, or around 34%.
KP also registered the highest number of violent incidents, with 151 cases, accounting for 57% of the national total. Balochistan reported 94 incidents, making up 35% of all such cases during the quarter.
