LAHORE: Train operations between Lahore and Faisalabad have been temporarily suspended after heavy rainfall caused damage to a railway bridge in Punjab, Pakistan Railways officials confirmed.
Officials said flooding impacted a bridge located between Qila Sheikhupura and Missan Kalar railway stations, forcing authorities to stop train movement on the route as a safety measure.
The suspension has affected multiple passenger services. The Badr Express and Ghauri Express, which normally run between Lahore and Faisalabad, have been cancelled until further notice.
Several other trains have also been rerouted. The Shalimar Express and Karakoram Express services heading towards Karachi are being operated through the Sahiwal route, while the Mianwali Express between Lahore and Mianwali has been diverted via Lala Musa.
Pakistan Railways stated that repair work on the damaged bridge and railway track is ongoing. Regular train operations will resume after restoration efforts are completed and the route is declared safe.
