KP CM allegedly drafted resignation twice due to depression, says PM advisor Ikhtiar Wali

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Advisor Ikhtiar Wali has asserted that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) once again drafted his resignation while battling depression.

Pakistan Tehreek Insaf’s leader Wali claimed that governance in KP has come to a standstill. He mentioned that the CM is facing fierce criticism from both within his own party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and from the general public.

Wali alleged that the mounting pressure caused the CM to fall into a deep depression, leading him to write his resignation on two separate occasions. He described the current leadership as being engaged in “stunt-like” behavior and suggested that dissolving the KP assembly and stepping down would be a prudent move.

He emphasized that a new electoral mandate is essential for effective governance in the province. “The people have seen through these theatrics,” Wali stated. “It would be better if the assembly is dissolved and the CM resigns to allow a fresh mandate to govern KP.”

Commenting on the ongoing “pen-down” strike in KP, Wali said that the province has essentially been on strike since PTI assumed power.

He further accused the provincial government of fostering corruption, claiming that drug traffickers and arms smugglers are being protected by the administration.

Additionally, Wali accused the KP government of misusing development funds, alleging that in 2022, PTI allocated a massive Rs13 billion for social media influencers, diverting resources away from actual development projects.
