KARACHI: The Karachi Development Authority carried out a major anti-encroachment drive in Surjani Town, recovering over 25 acres of government land after demolishing illegal structures and unauthorised booking offices.
According to an official statement, the operation was supervised by Shakeel Ahmed Khan and targeted encroachments spread across more than 100 acres in Sectors 10 and 13 of Surjani Town. Both temporary and permanent constructions built on state-owned land were removed during the action.
Officials stated that members of the enforcement team faced strong resistance during the operation. Miscreants allegedly resorted to stone-pelting and aerial firing in an attempt to disrupt the drive. Despite the unrest, authorities continued the operation with assistance from law enforcement agencies.
Asif Jan Siddiqui reiterated the authority’s resolve to continue impartial operations against illegal land occupation and organised encroachment networks across the city.
He further stressed that unlawful possession of KDA-owned property would not be tolerated and vowed that strict action would continue against land grabbers and illegal constructions in Karachi.
