Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world are observing Jammu Martyrs’ Day today (Sunday) to reiterate their resolve to carry on the martyrs’ mission till they achieve their inalienable right to self-determination.
Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were martyred by the forces of Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian Army and Hindu fanatics in different parts of Jammu region while they were migrating to Pakistan during the first week of November in 1947.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir rallies, demonstrations, and protest gatherings are being held in all small and big cities of the state under auspices of Kashmir Liberation Cell, Hurriyat and religious organizations.
All three radio stations have made arrangements to broadcast special programmes to highlight significance of the day.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry and Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan have paid glowing tributes to martyrs of Jammu on their 75th martyrdom anniversary.
In their separate messages, on the occasion of Jammu martyrs’ day, they said the day is not far when Kashmiris’ sacrifices would bear fruit and the Indian-occupied territory of Kashmir would be free from the Indian shackles of slavery.
The AJK President and Prime Minister urged the international community to help in stopping the atrocities on Kashmiris and force India to implement the UN Security Council’s resolutions to settle the lingering dispute peacefully.
