KARACHI: A man was killed and another critically injured after unidentified assailants opened fire on them near Jamali Bridge in the Sohrab Goth area on Wednesday.
Police said the attackers intercepted the victims’ vehicle, forced both men out and opened indiscriminate fire before escaping from the scene.
According to officials, the two men had travelled to Karachi from interior Sindh to attend a court hearing. They were on their way back after the proceedings when the assailants allegedly began following them.
The suspects reportedly intercepted their car near Jamali Bridge and targeted the two occupants.
One of the victims suffered critical gunshot wounds and died while being taken to a hospital. The second victim was shifted to a medical facility, where doctors described his condition as critical.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and called in the crime scene unit to collect evidence and examine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Authorities are also working to determine the motive behind the shooting and identify the assailants.
