JUI-F declares nationwide protests over the killing of religious scholar sheikh Muhammad Idrees

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has announced a series of peaceful nationwide protests in response to the recent assassination of Sheikh Muhammad Idrees, a respected religious scholar, who was shot by unidentified assailants in Mardan earlier today,

Spokesperson Aslam Ghauri stated that demonstrations will take place on Wednesday and Friday under the directives of party leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He emphasized that provincial and district branches have been instructed to organize protests across all major cities and districts.

Expressing grief over the loss, Ghauri described the killing as an “irreparable blow” and lamented that the deaths of religious scholars continue to shock the nation. “We are exhausted from burying revered scholars. How much longer will the government subject us to these tests?” he questioned.

He also criticized both federal and provincial authorities for their failure to ensure law and order.
